The new audio tape from “Osama bin Laden” taking responsibility for the idiotic and childish incident in Detroit where moronic Nigerian armed with a useless “bomb” is simply too much.  Now using audio tapes because, supposedly, nobody in Al Qaeda got a flash drive video recorder for Christmas is even more of a joke.  Please, with the hundreds of millions our Saudi allies have given to terrorists, a video camera the size of an Ipod might have been a nice touch.   Even funnier was releasing the audio, using algorithm software probably illegally downloaded off the internet, and giving it to Al Jazeera.

Pundit Debbie Schussell, former Mark Siljander (VT staff writer) staffer, has bitterly complained about the strong ties between Fox News and Al Jazeera.  Fox owner, Rupert Murdoch, is the most powerful “influencer” of the ultra-rightists in Israel.  Attempts by the press to present Al Jazeera of today as the “pro-terrorist” media it seemed like many years ago is an epic misrepresentation.

A further abuse, of course, is not only that we are no longer seeing the easily debunked bin Laden doubles whose video tapes were “mysteriously” released by SITE Intelligence, the Rita Katz/Israeli group that seems to find them in trash bins behind delicatessens.  The “new” audio tape itself contains statements claiming credit for 9/11 in direct contradiction to the real bin Laden videos, the only ones authenticated.  If you wondered why the FBI doesn’t list Osama bin Laden as a suspect in 9/11, I think you have your answer.  If they think the bin Laden “admissions” aren’t credibile, I wonder who the FBI is investigating or if they have simply been told to mind their own business.

The terrorist incident itself is the last thing Al Qaeda would ever take responsibilty for despite the claims by SITE Intelligence that they found an unnamed and unverified internet site that confirmed this.  Who in the name of all that is holy would want to take responsibility for an idiot who was led onto an American bound plane by passing around searches, customs and passport control in an airport run by an Israeli security company but who carried a “bomb” designed by a three year old.

Who would be so stupid as to try to pass off this childish tape when reliable witnesses saw the terrorist being led onto the plane in Amsterdam in a manner that required full cooperation from security personnel, passport control and the airline itself.  We don’t even have to go into the fact that the “terrorists” in Yemen that supposedly claimed responsibilty were released from Guantanamo under the personal signature of Vice President Cheney in 2007 or that before the incident, the government of Yemen tied these individuals to Israeli controllers thru captured computers.

I am only thankful that the duped terrorist, or as Lee Oswald had said, “patsy”, was the moronic son of a long time Mossad business associate in Nigeria.  Mr. Mutallab, banker, but mostly head of Nigeria’s defense industry, DICON, managed  almost entirely by Israelis, may have much more story to tell other than the one he told CIA Chief of Station on November 19, 2009.  Do we want to follow former Homeland Security director Chertoff, not only a Jewish activist but currently representing companies selling body scanners to airports and the mysterious ability for someone on worldwide terrorist watch lists to be escorted onto a US bound airliner without passport or search?

Billions in profits were realized almost instantly after this incident.  Companies tied to Chertoff, Israel and India were on the receiving end.

The only reliable information the world has on Osama bin Laden is that he was killed by American troops on December 13, 2001 and buried outside Tora Bora by his following, 30 Mujahideen.  At least 6 of these witnesses were alive at last check.  Since his death, every “leaked” video or statement has been timed for convenient electoral “terrorist” scares, been childishly unprofessional and has only worked to discredit Islam.

Every effort has been made by the MSM/corporate press to cover the facts behind the Christmas “bombing” and push the blame on everyone but the obvious culprits.  That effort was deemed so successful that now a brazen attempt to resurrect long dead Osama bin Laden to take responsibilty for trying to set off a bomb with a flame igniter that could only be exploded using a blasting cap, is being made.

Is this an attempt to make Al Qaeda look stupid?

“My name is Osama bin Laden.  I had a moron carry a defective bomb onto a plane full of Islamic families returning to Detroit, the most Muslim city in the west, as part of a terror campaign.  I chose a flight that connected from  the Middle East  so I could kill as many of the innocent faithful as possible.  Please excuse this and the dozen or other mistakes made but being dead has left me less sharp than I once was.  No, I do not work for the Mossad, they simply tape and distribute my interviews.  This is part of an agreement with my talent agent who is Jewish.  All talent agents are Jewish, ask anyone in Hollywood. What do you expect, miracles? 10% of nothing is nothing.

For my faithful followers, I expect to be a regular on Californication next season on Showtime.  I’ll be the guy with the beard who seems dead.”

The second possibility, one designed for the “spiritual” crowd is this:

“I am Osama, the ghost of Tora Bora.  Please give more money to Israel, vote to extend the Patriot Act and buy new airport scanners from the companies listed on my weekly newsletter distributed by SITE Intelligence.  Watch for more insane threats coming in the future and have a nice weekend.  Remember to stop eating pork.”

Any group that could make 5 airliners outwit NORAD, the most advanced air defense system in the world, any group that could train terrorist pilots inside the United States itself with nobody catching on, and it gets worse.  Sources tell us that FBI Special Agent Stephen Butler may have “accidentally” been cashing checks for and paying rent for two of the 9/11 hijackers.  Can people who can get this kind of thing done put a moron on an aircraft at an airport secured by an Israeli company, “extremely closely” related to the same company that managed security at all of the airports used on 9/11?

When Michigan attorney Kurt Haskell and his wife witnessed the famous, “he has no passport, he is a Sudanese refugee, we do this all the time”, incident in Amsterdam, only a phony bin Laden tape could make America forget, or so “they” hope.  Imagine our terrorist being  taken to meet the security head for the “airline” with his “Indian looking” handler, bomb strapped to his underwear.  Think of this exploding moron and his handler and who they would have had to know to get past, not only airline security and the Israeli company guarding the airport but Dutch passport control as well.

Anyone with the power to load the “crotch bomber” on a plane with no passport could have put a nuclear weapon in luggage easier.  Nukes are seldom on watch lists or have parents running to the CIA reporting them as “terrorists.”  Next time we are being lied to, please, have more respect.  Not everyone is a dumb as a Fox News, CNN,  the Wall Street Journal or the New York Times.  

It is one thing claiming that poor, long dead Osama bin Laden runs terrorists in Yemen.  It is quite something else proving that he manages an airport in Europe or runs the Dutch government.   When US Senators can’t get thru airport security without being detained, bin Laden’s ability to get diplomatic VIP treatment for known terrorists makes him more than a threat, it makes him a magician.

We are thankful that nobody was seriously injured and that we can all laugh about this, maybe not all of us.  The people of Nigeria don’t think it is funny.  Millions of Muslims aren’t seeing the joke either.  Air travelers are having their bad moments also.  Some, however, have benefitted in a major way, politically, financially and militarily.  None of those people, however, are ever openly accused of terrorism.

New York (CNN) — Outside a Manhattan mosque where the imam preaches against terrorism, the brothers of the “Revolution Muslim” are spreading a different message.

Protected by the Constitution of the country they detest, radical Muslim converts like Yousef al-Khattab and Younes Abdullah Mohammed preach that the killing of U.S. troops overseas is justified. In their thinking, so were the September 11, 2001, attacks on the United States — and so are attacks on almost any American.

“Americans will always be a target — and a legitimate target — until America changes its nature in the international arena,” Mohammed said in an interview to air on tonight’s “AC 360.”

Al-Khattab and Mohammed consider al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden their model.

“I love him like I can’t begin to tell you, because he doesn’t seem to have done anything wrong from the sharia,” al-Khattab said, referring to Islamic law. “If you’re asking me if I love him as a Muslim, I love him more than I love myself.”

They hand out fliers outside the gleaming 96th Street mosque, where up to 4,000 people visit every day. Inside the sleek, modernistic house of worship, Imam Shamsi Ali preaches against the violence that now sweeps many Muslim countries.

“What we try to do is reminding our people about the real Islam,” Ali said. “We tell them what the real Islam is all about. Islam is about peace. Islam is about moderation.

Islam is about friendship. Islam is opposed to any kind of hatred against anybody.”

Law enforcement sources have told CNN the men walk right up to the line of protection under the First Amendment, but their message is not going unnoticed.

Al-Khattab handed CNN Correspondent Drew Griffin a business card from an FBI agent who he says is keeping tabs on him. The agent would not comment without clearance from his superiors, except to say, “Obviously, if they gave you my card, you know we are watching them.”

The mosque has called police on Al-Khattab and Mohammed several times, and passers-by occasionally engage them in heated debates. Ali told CNN that ordinary Muslims are “disgusted with their behavior.” But they insist they don’t fight themselves, and don’t incite others to do so.

Al-Khattab calls President Obama “a murderer, a tyrant, a scumbag,” and says he wouldn’t “shed a tear” if Obama were killed. But he added, “Would I incite his murder?

That’s not what I teach.”

Mohammed calls himself an American “by default” who identifies with Muslims. Al-Khattab, a Jew who lived in Israel before converting to Islam, says he “would like to see a mushroom cloud” over the Jewish state — “but before that, I’d like to see the people guided, and I’d like them to go back to their original countries where they’re from.”

But federal agents are not only watching them, they’re watching some of those who are listening.

Neil Bryant Vinas, a young New Yorker who has pleaded guilty to plotting to attack trains on the Long Island Rail Road, met with al-Khattab. Al-Khattab said Vinas and “some brothers” traveled to Atlantic City, New Jersey, and had dinner with him. Al-Khattab said they considered him something of a hero because he left Israel and converted to Islam.

Al-Khattab also claims friendships with Tarek Mehanna, now under indictment in Boston, Massachusetts, on charges of conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists, and Daniel Maldonado, who pleaded guilty before a federal judge in Texas to receiving military training from Islamic militants in Somalia.

Mohammed says he and his fellow radicals are “commanded to terrorize the disbelievers … making them fearful so that they will think twice before they go rape your mother or kill your brother or go onto your land and try to steal your resources.”

“We are defending innocent women that are bombed every day, innocent children that are bombed every day,” he said. But asked whether those who take their fliers should take up arms against Americans, he said, “We certainly have never said that.”

Revolution Muslim (RM) is a fringe anti-Semitic Muslim organization that justifies terrorist attacks and other forms of violence against non-Muslims and seeks "the dismantlement of western, secular dominance across the world," according to its Web site. It is mostly active in New York.
 
While the group is not known to be involved in any terrorist activity, its statements include implicit, if not explicit, threats of violence and its radical ideology is rooted in the propagation of violence.
 
For example, on October 7, 2009, RM posted to its Web site a poem asking God to "kill the Jews" and listing ways Jews could be hurt, including by burning "their flammable sukkos while they sleep" and throwing "liquid drain cleaner in their faces."
 
The group, which has only a handful of active members, has reportedly received the attention of law enforcement.  In January 2009, in response to the Israeli military operation against Hamas in Gaza, RM posted a picture on its Web site of Chabad's world headquarters in Brooklyn with a message encouraging readers to "make EVERY attempt to reach these people and teach them the message of Islam or leave them a message from Islam." The posting, which was titled "Do Not Let Orthodox Judaism Get Away From Murder in Ghaza," reportedly prompted a police investigation.
 
RM was founded in 2007 by Yousef al-Khattab and Younes Abdullah Muhammad, both converts to Islam, to promote the ideas of Abdullah al-Faisal, a Jamaica-born Muslim preacher who served four years in a British prison for urging his followers to kill non-Muslims, including Americans, Hindus and Jews. In December 2009, Al-Khattab issued a statement handing over the leadership to Abdullah as-Sayf Jones, a convert to Islam who organizes RM activity in Florida. Abdullah Muhammad serves as RM's spokesperson.
 
RM has organized and participated in several anti-Israel demonstrations. For example, in June 2009, members protested the Israel Day Parade in New York holding signs that read: "May Allah give victory to the mujahedeen in Palestine; May Allah wipe out the Zionist vermin in Palestine" and "every supporter of 'Israel' is an enemy combatant."  Members taunted marchers with obscenities such as: "remember Auschwitz," "mushroom cloud over Israel" and "protect your behind children, these pedophile rabbis are out to get you."  At the Israel day parade in 2008, members shouted obscenities at marchers such as: "control the animal population, reopen Auschwitz…sanitize the Zionists…get the ovens burning."

Yousef al-Khattab and Younes Abdullah Muhammad created Revolution Muslim (RM) in 2007 to promote the ideas of Abdullah al-Faisal, a Jamaica-born Muslim preacher who served four years in a British prison for urging his followers to kill non-Muslims, including Americans, Hindus and Jews. Al-Faisal was deported from Britain to Jamaica in 2007. 

In 2008, NYPD Deputy Commissioner for Intelligence David Cohen said that al-Faisal was "the Caribbean equivalent of the Blind Sheikh" in reference to Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman, the Egyptian cleric serving a life sentence for conspiracy to blow up New York landmarks in 1993.

According to the RM Web site, one of the group's missions is to "support the dawa [propagation of faith] of our beloved Sheikh Abdullah al-Faisal." In addition to being listed on the RM Web site as the group's "imam and spiritual advisor," al-Faisal appears to communicate with the group. An apparent letter from al-Faisal to al-Khattab on the RM Web site preaches a complete rejection of democracy and modern economics as a condition to being a Muslim. In addition, RM posts recordings of al-Faisal to its Web site and distributes CDs of his speeches on Fridays at locations throughout New York City. 

RM also views Osama bin Laden as a source of inspiration. In a November 2009 interview, al-Khattab explained: "I love Osama bin Laden…because he doesn't seem to have done anything wrong from the [point of view of the] shariah [Islamic law]. I love him more than I love myself."

RM seeks to bring about a global Islamic government that will abolish all other forms of governance, including "the dismantlement of western, secular dominance across the world," according to its Web site. This global Islamic government will be achieved through propagation of the faith, or dawa, and through violence.

According to a pamphlet - By All Means Necessary - written by Abdullah Muhammad, "preaching alone could never have achieved the fruit of the effort of a single day," a reference to the September 11 terrorist attacks. Al-Khattab has explained that "we [Muslims] are commanded to terrorize the disbelievers." During a speech in New York a day after the shooting at Fort Hood in Texas, which left 12 soldiers and one civilian dead and 32 others injured, RM leader, Abdullah as-Sayf Jones, stated: "the greatest way to strike terror into the hearts of America is to hit them right in the heart, here in the heartland and soil."

During an impromptu January 23, 2009, speech that Abdullah Muhammad gave while manning RM's information table, which was set up on a midtown Manhattan street, he stated that the September 11 attacks were directed at legitimate "military targets" and explained that the World Trade Center was the "home of the economic power house that has kept the Muslims enslaved since the end of World War Two." In his pamphlet, Abdullah Muhammad also explained that the 2002 bombing of a nightclub in Bali, Indonesia, was justified because it was directed at "western tourists" engaged in "immoral acts."

RM's messages often condemn Jews, especially orthodox Jewry, reflecting al-Khattab's personal rejection of the religious Jewish practice he first embraced as a young man. While al-Khattab has claimed his hatred is directed not simply at Jews but at the Jewish religion, which he terms the "Rabbinical racist cult," RM holds an extremely anti-Semitic and conspiratorial world view.

For example, RM explicitly calls for genocide against Jews in Israel. One of the signs its members often display during anti-Israel rallies reads: "God will send the mushroom cloud over Israel." During a November 2009 interview, al-Khattab said, "I would like to see Israel wiped off the map. I would like to see a mushroom cloud over it." The group has also posted several videos online that show its leaders display jovial reactions to terrorist attacks in Israel and mock the victims.

In June 2008, members taunted marchers at the Israel Day Parade in New York with obscenities such as: "control the animal population, reopen Auschwitz…sanitize the Zionists…get the ovens burning."  Al-Khattab once signed a comment to an RM forum with the German words "Arbeit Macht Frei," the infamous Nazi slogan displayed on the entrance to the concentration camp in Auschwitz. ==

Revolution Muslim (RM) activity ranges from distributing CDs and printed materials outside mosques during Friday services and participating in anti-Israel rallies to distributing propaganda online.

Its distributions often take place in front of mosques that RM perceives as being too moderate. For example, on January 16, 2009, the group set up an information table outside a mosque on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and criticized its Imam, who gave a sermon at the mosque that day. Pointing to the mosque, RM's spokesperson Younes Abdullah Muhammad asked: "How dare you tell someone to integrate into society?" RM also uses these occasions to collect contributions.

RM has organized and participated in several anti-Israel demonstrations, including several rallies held to protest Israeli military actions against Hamas in Gaza in the winter of 2008-2009. At a January 3 protest in New York, members and supporters congregated in front of the Israeli Consulate where they handed out the group's literature, waved flags with the Islamic declaration of faith, and held signs that read: "Palestine is Muslim land," and "The Holocaust was a hoax." Another sign denounced Shia Islam as influenced by Judaism. At the end of the protest, Abdullah Muhammad called on bystanders to "support the Mujahedeen." 

RM often cooperates with representatives of the Islamic Thinkers Society (ITS), an offshoot of a British group by the name Al Muhajiroun.  Like RM, ITS supports violence in order to create a global Islamic state. During one rally near the Israeli consulate in New York, an ITS speaker said, "We tell you Jews…Allah will wipe you, along with Israel off the map." The speaker then pointed to al-Khattab as an example of a person who gave up the "Jewy tactics" and "accepted Islam and saved himself from the punishment of Allah."

RM runs online forums, a Web site and uses social networking sites to extend its reach. It regularly posts videos of its rallies and actions. Its Internet forum has several hundred registered members, including North Carolina blogger Samir Khan, a significant distributor of Jihadist propaganda in the U.S. The forums are used by members to communicate and share information and announcements.

Some of RM's online activity seems to go beyond merely sharing of information and includes implicit, if not explicit, threats. In one thread on an RM forum during the war in Gaza, the forum administrator commented: "These war crimes are sponsored by Zionists in many of the lands we live in," and recommended, "Don't discuss it here in this forum, go to the source and discuss it with them where ever they may be."

Around that time, RM also posted a picture on its Web site of Chabad's world headquarters in Brooklyn with a message encouraging readers to "make EVERY attempt to reach these people and teach them the message of Islam or leave them a message from Islam." Al-Khattab reported that he and another RM member were questioned by the police about the post.

In a subsequent online video, al-Khattab recommended that Muslims protest at the home of the head of the Jewish Federation and said that the Chabad center and the Yeshiva University in New York were two of the "sources" for the attacks on the Palestinians in Gaza.

Another posting in March 20, 2009, encouraged Muslims to attack members of a Hindu group in India who reportedly prevented Muslim women from wearing a veil inside a local college. The post read: "Where are the Muslims? They should storm these filthy rabid-sub-monkeys and stomp on their jaws until they hear the sweet *crack* sound, and then some." The person posting the comment identifies himself as affiliated with the London-based Web site Islam4UK.com, which is used by former members of Al-Muhajiroun.

In March 2009, RM posted a link to an audio message by Osama bin Laden in which the Al Qaeda leader berated the Arab governments for not supporting the Palestinians in Gaza. In a short statement introducing bin Laden's speech, RM wrote "Let the Demonstrations be followed by Blasts!!!," most likely referencing protests in the Arab world against the local government.

Abdullah Muhammad and RM's leader Abdallah Sayf Jones also contribute to Jihad Recollections, an English language online publication put out by Al-Fursan Media, an apparent collaboration of online terrorist sympathizers. In the inaugural issue, released in April 2009 and purporting to be "the first English Jihad magazine," Abdullah Muhammad expresses support for Al Qaeda, writing that the September 11 terrorist attacks "…were, for the most part, positive and the results even better than expected." He also calls on like-minded Muslims to "exploit these results and advance the jihad... It is time to begin to think about the necessary next steps that must predicate the conquering of Rome." ==

Yousef al-Khatab

Yousef al-Khatab (a.k.a. Joseph Leonard Cohen), 40, was born in Brooklyn, attended a Jewish seminary in Brooklyn and became a member of the Satmar Hasidic community. In 1998, he and his family immigrated to Israel and moved to a Jewish community in the Gaza Strip and later to a small town in Israel. Al-Khattab obtained an Israeli citizenship.
 
Al-Khattab says his conversion to Islam started after a series of conversations online with a Muslim from the United Arab Emirates. Based on al-Khattab's account, rejection of Judaism and even hatred of Jews were the focus of their exchange.
 
Al-Khattab and his wife converted to Islam and together with their children moved to an Arab neighborhood in East Jerusalem, where he worked for a Muslim Charity. Around that time, he became involved with a Web site that aims to convert Jews to Islam, called Jews for Allah (JFA). The JFA site was created by al-Khattab's associate, Mohammed Ghounem .
 
The JFA site contains anti-Semitic content. For example one section called "Judaism: A Religion of Terrorists?" argues that Zionist-Jews are terrorists and explains that "Jews who accept Islam are in reality leaving the proven illegal terrorists and joining the peaceful Muslims."
 
In November 2002, al-Khattab posted online a seemingly threatening note regarding a New York rabbi. He posted the rabbi's photo and home address and wrote: "Please make every effort to reach this man, and help him understand what its like to suffer under lies…Please Ikhwan [Arabic for "brothers"], just make contact with this man."  Al-Khattab later claimed that his home was raided by the police because of a fabricated complaint by this rabbi.
 
After a brief time living on Tetouan, Morocco, al-Khattab returned to New York City in 2007, where he worked as a pedicab driver. That year, al-Khattab created RM with another convert to Islam, Younes Abdullah Muhammad, who serves as the group's spokesperson. Al-Khattab served as RM's amir (Arabic for "leader") and "chief executive officer" until December 2009 when he announced that he would make Morocco his permanent place of residency and that he is handing over leadership of the group to Abdallah Sayf Jones (aka David Scott Jones), a convert to Islam who organizes RM activity in Florida.
 
Al-Khattab claims to have been in contact with three individuals who were later implicated in terrorist activity. Al- Khattab says he met in Atlantic City with Bryant Neal Vinas, a New Yorker who pleaded guilty to providing information to Al Qaeda and to firing rockets at an American military base in Afghanistan.  He also claims to have been friends with Tarek Mehanna, a Massachusetts man who was charged for allegedly planning to attack a shopping mall and American troops in Iraq, and Daniel Maldonado, a U.S. citizen who was sentenced to 10 years in prison for participating in terrorist activities in Somalia.

The New York Times refuses to confirm or deny a report that its Jerusalem bureau chief, Ethan Bronner, has a child who is an enlisted member of the Israeli Defense Force--even though such a relationship would pose a serious conflict of interest.

The Electronic Intifada website (1/25/10), following a tip, asked Bronner whether it was true that he had a son in the IDF. EI got a reply from Times foreign editor Susan Chira:

Ethan Bronner referred your query to me, the foreign editor. Here is my comment: Mr. Bronner's son is a young adult who makes his own decisions. At the Times, we have found Mr. Bronner's coverage to be scrupulously fair and we are confident that will continue to be the case.

The decisions of Bronner's son, however, are not the issue. What the Times needs to ask itself is whether it expects that its bureau chief has the normal human feelings about matters of life or death concerning one's child.

Might he feel hostility, for example, when interviewing members of organizations who were trying to kill his son? When the IDF goes into battle, might he be rooting for the side for which his son is risking his life? Certainly such issues would be taken very seriously if a Times reporter had a child who belonged to a military force that was engaged in hostilities with the IDF; indeed, there's little doubt that a reporter in that position would not be allowed to continue to cover the Mideast conflict.

Having a conflict of interest, it should be stressed, is not the same thing as producing slanted journalism; rather, it means that a journalist has outside motivations that are strongly at odds with his or her journalistic responsibilities. That a journalist has been "scrupulously fair" in the past does not excuse an ongoing conflict of interest; journalists should not be placed in a position where they have to ignore the well-being of their family in order to do their job, nor should readers be expected to trust that they can do so.

That said, Bronner's reporting has been repeatedly criticized by FAIR for what would appear to be a bias toward the Israeli government. For example, Extra! (3/09) questioned an article that Bronner (1/13/09) wrote on Israel's 2009 invasion of Gaza that claimed that unspecified "polls have shown nearly 90 percent support for the war thus far"; FAIR's magazine noted that this was "a statistical unlikelihood in a country that is 20 percent Palestinian." The same piece by Bronner claimed that "the largest demonstration against the war so far, with some 6,000 participants, was organized by an Arab political party"; an article by Agence France-Presse (1/3/09) had reported that "tens of thousands" of Israeli Arabs had protested against the war in the Israeli town of Sakhnin. (See also Extra!, 1-2/08, 7/09; FAIR Blog, 2/4/09).

As Electronic Intifada pointed out, the New York Times' own policies acknowledge that the activities of family members may pose a conflict of interest: "A brother or a daughter in a high-profile job on Wall Street might produce the appearance of conflict for a business reporter or editor," and such conflicts may require a journalist "to withdraw from certain coverage." Given this policy, it is unacceptable for the Times' foreign editor to take the position that the military status of Bronner's children is of no concern. The question posed by EI must be asked again: Does the New York Times' Jerusalem bureau chief have a son in the Israeli military, and if so, why doesn't this pose a conflict of interest?

ACTION: Please ask the New York Times public editor to investigate whether Times Jerusalem bureau chief Ethan Bronner has a child in the Israeli Defense Force, and, if so, why such a relationship is not seen as posing an unacceptable conflict of interest.
