Four-year-old girl sexually assaulted in Sunshine Coast public toilets

By Kathy Sundstrom

Police are investigating a complaint of indecent assault on a four-year-old girl at the public toilets at Coolum on the Sunshine Coast last Friday.

Sunshine Coast District Superintendent Darryl Johnson said the offence was serious and police were appealing for the community to help.

"It is definitely a real concern to us, we haven't seen this type of offence in our community in recent time," he said.

"We are appealing to anyone that may know of something to contact police.

"It is in the early stages in the investigation, but it is a serious offence. It is one that we as police, we as the community, family, as mothers and fathers, we want to see that one solved."

Child Protection Unit Officer-in-Charge, Justin Ward, said the incident happened "between 4.30pm and 5.30pm" at the toilet block at Tickle Park at Coolum.

Superintendent Johnson said the child had been medically examined, but not hospitalised.

Superintendent Johnson said police had not released details of the incident or issued a warning as it was "one of the investigative strategies".

"We're working through the information we have and we will get more information out as it comes to hand. All these investigations are handled delicately as it is one we are taking our time to piece together.

"I'm hoping and confident we will solve this and identify the person responsible."

Detective Senior Sergeant Ward said police were looking at CCTV footage in the area.

Superintendent Johnson said public toilets couldn't be singled out as a hot spot for bad behaviour.

"You also see it in places where a lot of people are congregated, such as beaches, parks, shopping centres," he said.

"You can't single out public toilets as hot spots, it is one area though where we need to, as parents, be more vigilant with our kids."

Kathy,

Trendy politicians are pulling down the old SEGREGATED toilets, and building UNISEX toilets at great expense $$$.

Unisex toilets are more risky for assault. But how will readers know, if you don't mention it?

Please update your report to mention this.

$450K toilet block coming to Coolum

15th Mar 2011 4:41 PM

A $450,000 toilet block for Tickle Park will begin construction on Monday.

The Coolum project will see a new public amenities block for the popular park, consisting of unisex and wheelchair accessible toilets, wash basins and external showers.

Councillor Vivien Griffin said new connection pathways, landscaping, artwork and four rain water tanks would also be features of the soon-to-be-built facility.

“The new block will be located near the existing toilet facility but closer to the Tickle Park playground and shelters,” she said.

“This location will allow greater casual surveillance of the facility from the nearby shelters and playground which will provide peace of mind for parents with young children.

“The look and feel of the works will also reflect the Coolum Boardwalk and recently completed Coolum Surf Life Saving Club artwork.”

All current facilities in Tickle Park will be available for use as normal and the old toilet block will remain open and operational until the new one is finished.

The project is set for completion in June.

Council looks into unisex toilets

23rd Sep 2010 2:00 AM

THE leaving-the-toilet-seat-up debate could find its way into public amenities across the Sunshine Coast.

Sunshine Coast council is looking at introducing more unisex toilets across the region.

New unisex blocks at Cotton Tree and Tickle Park, Coolum are being considered. They would add to the four built in the last year at Shelly Beach, Point Cartwright, Fishermans Road and Cotton Tree.

Sunrise Beach father David Zuric said he was shocked when he first discovered unisex toilets on the Coast.

“I think it’s pretty wild. I don’t feel comfortable,” Mr Zuric said.

“Nobody asked if anyone wanted them.

“Whose idea was it?”

The idea was council’s.

A spokesperson said when designing toilets, council considered what was appropriate for the location and took into account the usage, community input from councillors, site constraints and what existed on the site such as pump stations.

The spokesperson said traditional toilet blocks were located in low visibility areas. New toilet blocks will be designed for safety.

“A facility with four stalls can be used by four men or four women, basically whoever is waiting,” the spokesperson said.

“This can be important in low-lying locations where existing sewerage pump stations may have limited capacity, which in turn limits the amount of possible stalls.”

The spokesperson said the new toilet blocks would make it more comfortable for mothers with young sons or fathers with young daughters to take their children to the toilet.

Mr Zuric said he would not worry about the unisex toilets if they were preferred by the majority of people.

But he said council should have consulted with the public before building the toilet.

“I’m not saying they shouldn’t be there. If the majority of people want them then let them be,” he said.

“I won’t avoid them but I’d rather not go into a unisex toilet.

“I’d rather go to separated toilets because I’m used to it and it’s always been like that.”

Mr Zuric said women might be in for a rude awakening, saying in general men were not as clean as females.

Man charged with alleged sexual assault in Sydney CBD nightclub's unisex toilet

By Arjun Ramachandran

30 October 2009 — 2:47pm

Police have charged a man with sexually assaulting a woman inside a unisex toilet at the exclusive Ivy nightclub overnight.

The man allegedly followed the woman, without her knowledge, into the toilet of the George Street club about 2.15am today, police said.

He allegedly locked the toilet door and sexually assaulted her, they said.

The two did not know each other before the alleged attack, police said.

Security staff at the club were alerted and held the man, a 30-year-old from Lilli Pilli in Sydney's south, until police arrived.

Police arrested him and charged him with aggravated sexual assault without consent.

He was refused bail and will appear in Central Local Court this afternoon.

Unisex toilets are 'paradise for perverts' – SHOCK report

UNISEX toilets have led to a spate of sex attacks.

By Liz Perkins / Published 3rd September 2018

Shock statistics show that nine out of 10 claims of sexual misconduct are linked to gender-neutral loos.

MP David Davies said unisex facilities were in danger of becoming a paradise for perverts.

The Tory MP for Monmouth said: “These figures show that women and girls are more vulnerable in mixed changing rooms and there is a danger these places are becoming a magnet for sexual offenders.

“It simply doesn’t make sense to enable men to have greater access to women’s spaces. The reforms to gender recognition will grant that access.”

Nicola Williams, of campaign group Fair Play For Women, said: “Spaces where women are undressed should be single-sex as a matter of course. This is obvious, elementary safeguarding.”

A total of 134 complaints of sexual misconduct – including rape and assault – in sports centre and swimming pool changing rooms were lodged last year.

Out of those, 120 were reported in unisex and 14 in single-sex facilities.

Unisex toilets have been on the rise in recent years and campaigners say they are needed to make transgender people feel more comfortable.

But Cardiff residents raised a petition against gender-neutral facilities at a new leisure centre.

Bernie Breen, who started the protest, said the sexes “need to be separate because there isn’t enough staff to keep an eye on everybody”.

(7) UK Parents Fight Back On Unisex Toilet “Social Experiment”

Marriage-Alliance-Australia-Unisex-UK.jpgAll over the world, parents are fed up with their children being used as “guinea pigs” for sexual agendas. Buxton School, located in East London, recently introduced gender-neutral restrooms intended to be used by pupils aged eight and older.

The parents of the pupils were immediately outraged by the school’s induction of unisex toilets, which parents believe could result in sexualised behaviour among the young pupils. Nonetheless, as EssentialKids reported, a school official tried to defend the movement:

Speaking to the East London and West Essex Guardian, executive head-teacher Kath Wheeler said that the toilets have created safe spaces where pupils show respect towards each other and feel respected. Wheeler also noted that the unisex facilities meet local council regulations.

Concerned parents did not buy those excuses at all:

However, parents at the school are not impressed by the new imitative and have started campaigning to have the new toilets closed.

A change.org petition started so that parents could have their opinions heard reached 800 signatures in its first day:

Ehasan Karim who started the petition says that parents don't want their children to be part of a social experiment. He writes [in the petition]: "We believe the decision to introduce unisex toilets will disrupt the hygiene, privacy, safety, security and the wellbeing of the children attending Buxton School.

"We fear that it may potentially cause an increase in sexually related incidents, including assault and harassment."

He continues: "We are concerned about the introduction of unisex toilets at our school. Failure to act upon our concerns will only motivate us to expose locally and nationally the decision to creep this idea into ours schools with no justification, consultation or notification to parents/guardians of those children who this decision will impact."

In a good way, these parents have turned the tables: while many gender ideologists and same-sex marriage advocates invoke negative reaction to measures protecting marriage and/or gender, these parents have responded negatively to their children being used for sexual, social experiments. The school overstepped its boundaries by failing to consult the parents before taking such a radical move, and further failing to respect the parents’ concerns and general view of the initiative:

While there is some support for the new toilets, a poll in the Guardian shows that the majority of parents are very uncomfortable with the idea.

As many concerned parents noted, the potential consequences of unisex toilets are too great to be inflicted on their children:

Worried mother Shaila Hussain said: "This concept of mixed toilets will not only make children feel differentiated but shame in using toilets.

"This will initiate more sexualised behaviour. It would be better to keep it separated as it's safer. The toilets leading to the corridor can still be open, for staff to oversee single sex toilets. Having the unisex toilets will allow nothing but more mischievous behaviour."

Hannah Cuthbertson said unisex toilets will just lead to children becoming sexually active even earlier. She added: "Unisex toilets will just lead to children becoming sexually active even earlier. In turn leads to more sexual assaults and problems, children are too young to understand the implications."

Firuza Beg said the toilets could increase the risk of child abuse. "There's already so much child abuse going on and this will increase the situation even more. If anything does happen then the headteacher and other associates will be fully responsible. Totally disgusting."

Buxton School is imposing an ideology without consulting parents, which is similar to the methods of Australia’s Safe Schools. However, these parents refused to surrender their children as social guinea pigs for a sexualised agenda. Within 24 hours, hundreds of parents signed a petition supporting the return to normal, segregated bathrooms, and the number continues to grow.

Just as these parents are committed to protecting their children, Marriage Alliance is committed to protecting your right to have a voice in the marriage debate. The Australian people must decide the question of same-sex marriage and its accompanying initiatives for themselves. As these parents have demonstrated, the silent majority is a force to be reckoned with – and we will never surrender.

(8) Bettina Arndt: Stop Violence against Everyone

Stop Violence against Everyone

Over the past four years the Federal Government has spent over 100 million dollars promoting a feminist view of domestic violence, claiming it is all about gender inequality and disrespect for women. There’s no evidence supporting that claim for egalitarian countries like Australia.

This funding is about to run out and the huge domestic violence industry is lobbying the government to feed the feminist cash cow.

Watch Bettina’s YouTube video explaining why she has launched her campaign.

The government needs to hear from the silenced majority about the truth about family violence, including the male victims and the people who grew up with violent mothers as well as professionals, police and other front line workers who object to the current one-sided campaigns.

Bettina has prepared a petition, based around a letter to the Minister for Women, Kelly O’Dwyer, urging the government to take an evidence-based approach to family violence which acknowledges violent women and addresses the complex causes of this important social problem.

(9) Camille Paglia interview on Feminism & Androgyny

Camille Paglia interview with Claire Fox, at the Battle of Ideas. Published on Nov 4, 2016

Internationally renowned American social critic Camille Paglia has been called ‘the anti-feminist feminist’. Describing contemporary feminism as a ‘gross betrayal of the radical principles of 1960s counterculture’, she stands firmly on the side of free speech and against political correctness.

Camille Paglia sits down with Institute of Ideas director Claire Fox and a full house, to discuss the past, present and future of feminism and the themes in her forthcoming (and seventh) book, Free Women, Free Men: Sex, Gender, Feminism. In the riveting discussion which ensues, filmed at the Battle of Ideas, Camille describes her thinking as “street smart Amazon feminism”.

Asked about consent classes, she says of those who run them “they are vampires, young people must rebel and say get out of our sex lives.” Feminism as Claire Fox tells us, certainly gets a good intellectual kicking. A must to watch and share.

39:00 sex-reassignment surgery under the age of 18 is Child Abuse

40:00 the assault on masculinity ... gender doesn't really exist, it's not really polarity, everything is all about expanding Women's rights, but also terminating Men, and defining Men out of existence; masculinity is, by definition, toxic ... I began all my studies, my book Sexual Personae began ... on Androgyny, I've always been attracted to the subject of Androgyny, and that's what Sexual Personae is, exploring the history. The more I explored it, I realized that,

40:48 historically, the movement to Androgyny occurs in late stages of culture,  as a civilization is starting to unravel ... you find it again and again and again, through history  ...

41:24 and the people who live in such periods, the late days of culture, whether it's the Hellenistic era, whether it's the Roman Empire, .. whether it's Weimar Germany, people who live at such times feel that they're very sophisticated, they're very cosmopolitan, and homosexuality, heterosexuality ... anything goes ... but from the perspective of historical distance, you can see that it's a culture no longer believes in itself, and they what you invariably get are people who are convinced of the power of heroic masculinity, on the edges, whether they're the Vandals and the Huns, or whether they're the barbarians of Isis {Islamic State - ed.}, you see them starting to mass on the outsides of the culture, and that's what we have right now, so there is a tremendous and rather terrifying disconnect between the infatuation with the Transgender movement, in our own culture, and what's going on 'out there'. I'm concerned, I feel it's ominous, I question whether the Transgender choice is genuine in every single case, but what concerns me is when well-meaning adults believe that they're helping people by making easier some permanent change in the body from which there is no going back.
