THERE
IS nothing better than a scandal every week. A juicy scandal
excites people,
engages the media, takes our minds off matters like war
and peace,
occupation and apartheid. Like panem et circenses (bread and
entertainment)
in ancient Rome.
This week we had several scandals to occupy us. Ehud
Olmert, a former
prime minister, was convicted of taking huge bribes when he
was the
mayor of Jerusalem. He was paid for approving a monstrous building
complex on the highest hill of West Jerusalem, visible from a great
distance.
As if this was not enough, Sylvan Shalom, a cabinet
minister with half a
dozen functions, was suspected of sexual assault. A
former secretary
remembered that 15 years ago he had attacked her in his
hotel room.
With such exciting news to deal with, who can spare the time
and energy
to think about the crisis in the Israeli-Palestinian
negotiations, which
never really started at all? The public knows well
enough that these
negotiations are a farce set in motion by an American
administration
which does not have the guts to stand up to the hirelings of
the Israeli
government in Congress and impose anything on Binyamin
Netanyahu.
INDEED, IF anyone had any illusions about American politics,
they were
dispelled this week.
The casino mogul, Sheldon Adelson,
organized a public display of his power.
He summoned to his Las Vegas
betting paradise the four most probable
Republican candidates for the next
presidential elections, in order to
choose one of them. All the invitees
heeded the summons, of course.
It was a shameless exhibition. The
politicians groveled before the
casino lord. Mighty governors of important
states did their best to sell
themselves like applicants at a job interview.
Each of them tried to
trump the others in promising to do the Mogul's
bidding.
Flanked by Israeli bodyguards, Adelson grilled the American
hopefuls.
And what was he demanding from the future president of the United
States? First of all and above everything else, blind and unconditional
obedience to the government of another state: Israel.
Adelson is one
of the richest Jews in the world. He is also a fanatical
rightist – not only
an American rightist, but also an Israeli one.
While he is now looking
for the best American president money can buy,
he has already chosen his
Israeli stooge. He has done something
unprecedented in Israeli history:
created an instrument to impose his
ultra-right views on the Israeli
people.
For this purpose he has invested large sums of money in a daily
newspaper of his creation. It is called "Israel Hayom" (Israel today),
and is literally priceless: it is distributed for nothing all over the
country. Its readership is now the largest in the country, threatening
the existence of the former No. 1, "Yedioth Ahronoth" and killing the
next one, "Maariv".
The sole purpose of Adelson's paper is to serve
Binyamin Netanyahu,
personally and politically, unconditionally and
unreservedly. This is
such a blatant intervention in Israeli politics by a
foreign billionaire
that it is causing a reaction: all Knesset factions,
both rightist and
leftist (except the Likud, of course) have signed a demand
to put an end
to this corruption of democracy.
CURIOUSLY ENOUGH, the
Zionist movement was founded in a casino. That was
the name of the hall in
Basel, Switzerland, where the First Zionist
Congress took place in 1897. But
it had nothing to do with betting. The
Stadtkasino was just a
centrally-located hall.
Since then, casinos had become betting places,
connected in the public
mind with the Mafia. Nowadays they seem to be kosher
in the US, though
strictly forbidden in Israel.
Las Vegas has now
become the capital of American politics. Everything
Adelson does is done
openly, proudly, shamelessly. I wonder how ordinary
Americans react to this
spectacle of one billionaire - especially a
Jewish one - choosing their next
president for them.
We are told that anti-Semitism is on the rise in
Europe and and across
the globe. In the crazy mental world of the
anti-Semites, Jews control
the cosmos. And here we have a Jew, straight out
of the pages of the
Protocols of the Elders of Zion, trying to appoint the
ruler of the
mightiest country on the planet.
Adelson has failed in
the past. Last time, he spent huge sums of money
on one hopeless candidate,
and then on the winning Republican nominee,
who was soundly trounced by
Barack Obama, a liberal, black abomination.
But nobody can be sure that this
will happen again. For Adelson, the
slogan could well be: "If money does not
work, try more money!"
THE BASIC problem is that the American political
process is totally
corrupt. There is no other way to put it.
In order
to become the nominee of one major party, and then to be
elected president,
one needs enormous sums of money. Since the major
battlefield is TV, and
candidates have to pay for it, these sums get
bigger and bigger.
It
is nice to think that ordinary citizens can raise these sums with
their
modest donations, but that is an illusion. Donations of these
dimensions can
only come from the rich, especially from the very, very
rich. (Americans
don't like this revealing word anymore and speak of
"the wealthy". But that
is sheer whitewashing.)
The very rich were once called millionaires, then
multi-millionaires,
and now billionaires. Adelson is a
multi-billionaire.
A billionaire does not donate a fortune for a
presidential candidate for
nothing. That's not how he became a billionaire
in the first place. Once
he gets his man elected, he demands his pound of
flesh, many pounds.
I am told that Adelson wants internet betting to be
prohibited, so that
ordinary, honest-to-goodness casinos can flourish. But I
have no doubt
that his right-wing Zionist passions come first. If he
succeeds in
installing his favorite in the White House, the US will become
totally
subservient to the extreme right-wing in Israel. He might as well
put
Netanyahu in the Oval Office. (Now there's an idea! It just needs a
small amendment to the constitution. How much can that cost?)
That
would have been OK with me, if Adelson really understood anything
about the
Israeli-Arab conflict. With the typical arrogance of the very
rich, he
thinks that he does. Yet it seems that he has not the slightest
idea about
the roots of the conflict, its history and the acute dangers
lurking in our
future.
If Adelson could dictate our future, it would spell disaster for
our
country.
OUR OWN political system is not quite as corrupt as the
American one,
but it is bad enough.
Israeli parties which participate
in elections get free TV time
according to their size in the last Knesset,
with a minimum time
reserved for new parties. But that is far from enough
for an election
campaign.
Parties are limited in the amount of money
they may accept from donors
and in the amount they are allowed to spend. The
state comptroller
exercises strict control.
And so we come back to
Olmert.
No ambitious politician contents himself with the amounts
allowed. Many
of them look for tricks to circumvent the comptroller,
sometimes
reaching the limits of legality, often going beyond. Olmert
himself has
been suspected several times in the past of using illegal money,
but he
always succeeded in wriggling out.
Contravening the law in
this way is a criminal offence, but in the past,
the Israeli public did not
really condemn it too vigorously. The general
attitude was "politicians will
be politicians."
This attitude changed when, for the first time, it
appeared that
politicians were accepting bribes not for the good of their
party, but
for the good of themselves. The first major scandal of this kind,
uncovered by my magazine in 1976, concerned Asher Yadlin, a Labor Party
leader who had just been appointed Governor of the Bank of Israel. It
appeared that he took the bribe for himself instead of the party, and
went to prison. Since then, many such cases have been uncovered. Several
ministers have been sent to prison. One has already served his prison
term and is back playing a central role in the Knesset. Ariel Sharon and
Avigdor Lieberman escaped from indictments by the skin of their
teeth.
(I have already told the story about a former education minister,
who
was told by a colleague: "Congratulate me! I was acquitted!" To which he
drily replied: "Curious. I have never been acquitted!")
Olmert is the
latest one, and overshadows all the others because he was
a prime minister.
The country is shocked. But his long career has been
spotted with
indictments, from which he was always saved by his lawyers.
At first he took
money for his election campaigns. Later on he took
money for
himself.
THERE IS no way to roll back the corruption of the political
process in
the US – or here – without completely changing the electoral
system. As
long as huge sums are needed to get elected, corruption will
reign supreme.
Until such a reform takes place, the Adelsons and the
Olmerts will
corrupt democracy.
And the Monster on the Hill in
Jerusalem will stand as a warning.

Introduction
The question of
war or peace with Iran rests with the policies adopted
by the White House
and the US Congress. The peace overtures by newly
elected Iranian President
Rohani have resonated favorably around the
world, except with Israel and its
Zionist acolytes in North America and
Europe. The first negotiating session
proceeded without recrimination
and resulted in an optimistic assessment by
both sides. Precisely
because of the initial favorable response among the
participants, the
Israeli government escalated its propaganda war against
Iran. Its agents
in the US Congress, the mass media and in the Executive
branch moved to
undermine the peace process. What is at stake is Israel's
capacity to
wage proxy wars using the US military and its NATO allies
against any
government challenging Israeli military supremacy in the Middle
East,
its violent annexation of Palestinian territory and its ability to
attack any adversary with impunity.
To understand what is at stake in
the current peace negotiations one
must envision the consequences of
failure: Under Israeli pressure, the
US announced that its 'military option'
could be activated – resulting
in missile strikes and a bombing campaign
against 76 million Iranians in
order to destroy their government and
economy. Teheran could retaliate
against such aggression by targeting US
military bases in the region and
Gulf oil installations resulting in a
global crisis. This is what Israel
wants.
We will begin by examining
the context of Israel's military supremacy in
the Middle East. We will then
proceed to analyze Israel's incredible
power over the US political process
and how it shapes the negotiation
process today, with special emphasis on
Zionist power in the US Congress.
The Context of Israeli Military
Supremacy in the Middle East
Since the end of World War II, Israel has
bombed, invaded and occupied
more countries in the Middle East and Africa
than previous colonial
power, except the US. The list of Israel's victims
includes: Palestine,
Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Sudan and Yemen.
If we include
countries where Israel has launched quasi-clandestine
terrorist attacks
and assassinations, the list would be greatly expanded to
include a
dozen countries in Europe and Asia – including the US through its
Zionist terror network.
Israel's projection of military power, its
capacity for waging offensive
wars at will, is matched by its near-total
impunity. Despite their
repeated violations of international law, including
war crimes, Israel
has never been censored at an international tribunal or
subjected to
economic sanctions because the US government uses its position
to veto
UN Security Council resolutions and pressure its NATO-EU
allies.
Israel's military supremacy has less to do with the native
techno-industrial 'brilliance' of its war-mongers and more to do with
the transfers and outright theft of nuclear, chemical and biological
technology and weapons from the US (Grant Smith "Ten Explosive US
Government Secrets of Israel" IRMEP). Overseas Zionists in the US and
France have played a strategic (and treasonous) role in stealing and
illegally shipping nuclear technology and weapon components to Israel,
according to an investigation by former CIA Director Richard
Helms.
Israel maintains huge nuclear, chemical, and biological weapon
stockpiles refusing any access to international arms inspectors and is
not obliged to abide by the non-proliferation treaty, because of US
diplomatic intervention. Under pressure from the local 'Zionist power
configuration' (ZPC), the US government has blocked any action which
might constrain Israel's production of weapons of mass destruction. In
fact the US continues to provide Israel with strategic weapons of mass
destruction for use against its neighbors – in violation of
international law.
US military aid and technology transfers to Israel
exceed $100 billion
dollars over the past half century. US diplomatic and
military
intervention was crucial in rescuing Israel from defeat during the
1973
war. US President Lyndon Johnson's refusal to defend the unarmed
intelligence ship, the USS Liberty in 1967, after it had been bombed and
napalmed by Israeli fighter planes and warships in international waters,
constituted a tremendous victory for Israel thanks to Johnson's Zionist
advisers. Because of its impunity, even in killing American servicemen,
Israel has been given a free hand to wage aggressive wars to dominate
its neighbors, commit acts of terrorism and assassinate its adversaries
throughout the world without fear of retaliation.
Israel's
uncontested military superiority has converted several of its
neighbors to
quasi-client collaborators: Egypt and Jordan have served as
de facto allies,
along with the Gulf monarchies, helping Israel repress
the region's
nationalist and pro-Palestinian movements.
The most decisive factor in
the rise and consolidation of Israel's power
in the Middle East has not been
its military prowess but its political
reach and influence via its Zionist
agents in the US. Washington's wars
against Iraq and Libya, and its current
support of the mercenary assault
against Syria, have destroyed three major
secular nationalist opponents
of Israel's hegemonic ambitions.
As
Israel accumulates more power in the region, expanding its
colonization of
Palestinian territory, it looks eastward toward
destroying the last
remaining obstacle to its colonial policies: Iran.
For at least two
decades, Israel has directed its overseas agents - (the
ZPC) – to destroy
the government of Iran by destabilizing its society,
assassinating its
scientists, bombing its military establishments and
laboratories and
strangling its economy.
After the ZPC successfully pushed the US into war
against Iraq in 2003 –
literally shredding its complex secular society and
killing over a
million Iraqis - it turned its sights on destroying Lebanon
(Hezbollah)
and the secular government of Syria as a way to isolate Iran and
prepare
for an attack. While thousands of Lebanese civilians were
slaughtered in
2006, Israel's attack of Lebanon failed, despite the support
of the US
government and the ZPC's wild propaganda campaign. Hysterical at
its
failure and to 'compensate' for its defeat at the hands of Hezbollah and
to 'boost morale', Israel invaded and destroyed much of Gaza (2008/9) –
the world's largest open air prison camp.
Lacking military capacity
to attack Iran on its own, Israel directed its
agents to manipulate the US
government to start a war with Teheran. The
militarist leaders in Tel Aviv
have unleashed their political assets
(ZPC) throughout the US to work to
destroy Iran – the last formidable
adversary to Israel supremacy in the
Middle East.
The Israeli-ZPC strategy is designed to set the stage for a
US
confrontation with Iran, using its agents in the Executive branch as
well as its ongoing corruption, bribery and control of the US Congress.
ZPC control over the mass media enhances its propaganda campaign:
Everyday the New York Times and the Washington Post publish articles and
editorials promoting Israel's war agenda. The ZPC uses the US State
Department to force other NATO states to likewise confront
Iran.
Israel's Proxy War with Iran: US Political Pressure, Economic
Sanctions
and Military Threats
Alone, Israel's 'war' with Iran would
not amount to much more than its
cyber sabotage, the periodical
assassinations of Iranian scientists
using its paid agents among Iranian
terrorist groups and non-stop
brow-beating from Israeli politicians and
their 'amen crowd'. Outside of
Israel, this campaign has had little impact
on public opinion. Israel's
'was' on Iran depends exclusively on its
capacity to manipulate US
policy using its local agents and groups who
dominate the US Congress
and through the appointments of officials in key
positions in the
Departments of Treasury, Commerce, and Justice , and as
Middle East
'advisors'. Israel cannot organize an effective sanction
campaign
against Iran; nor could it influence any major power to abide by
such a
campaign. Only the US has that power. Israel's dominance in the
Middle
East comes entirely from its capacity to mobilize its proxies in the
United States who are assigned the task of securing total submission to
Israel's interests from elected and appointed government officials –
especially in regard to Israel's regional adversaries.
Strategically placed, 'dual US-Israeli citizens' have used their US
citizenship to secure high security positions in the Government directly
involved in policies affecting Israel. As Israelis, their activities are
in line with the dictates of Tel Aviv. In the Bush administration
(2001-2008) high placed 'Israel Firsters' dominated the Pentagon (Paul
Wolfowitz, Douglas Feith), Middle East Security (Martin Indyk, Dennis
Ross), the Vice President's office ('Scooter' Libby), Treasury (Levey)
and Homeland Security (Michael Chertoff). In the Obama administration
the 'Israel Firsters' include Dennis Ross, Rahm Emanuel, David Cohen,
Secretary of Treasury Jack "Jake the Snake" Lew, Secretary of Commerce
Penny Pritzker and Michael Froman as Trade Representative among
others.
Israel's Proxy Power within the Executive branch is matched by
its
dominance of the US Congress. Contrary to some critics, Israel is
neither an 'ally' or 'client' of the US. Evidence of the gross asymmetry
of the relation abounds over the past half century. Because of these
powerful proxies in Congress and the Executive branch, Israel has
received over $100 billion dollar tribute from the US over the past 30
years, or $3 billion plus a year. The US Pentagon has transferred the
most up-to-date military technology and engaged in several wars on
Israel's behalf. The US Treasury has imposed sanctions against
potentially lucrative trading and investment partners in the Middle East
(Iran, Iraq and Syria) depriving US agricultural and manufacturing
exporters and oil companies of over $500 billion in revenues. The White
House sacrificed the lives of over 4,400 US soldiers in the Iraq War – a
war promoted by Israel's proxies at the behest of Israel's leaders. The
State Department has rejected friendly and profitable relations with
over 1.5 billion Muslims by backing the illegal settlement of over half
million Jewish colonists on military-occupied Palestinian land in the
West Bank and Jerusalem.
The strategic question is how and why this
one-sided relation between
the US and Israel persists for so long, even as
it goes counter to so
many strategic and elite US interests? The more
immediate and pressing
question is how this historically lopsided relation
effects contemporary
US-Iran sanctions and nuclear negotiations?
Iran
and the Peace Negotiations
Undoubtedly the newly elected Iranian
President and his Foreign Minister
are prepared to negotiate an end to
hostilities with the US by making
major concessions ensuring the peaceful
use of nuclear energy. They have
stated they are open to reducing or even
ending the production of highly
enriched uranium; reducing the number of
centrifuges and even allowing
intrusive, unannounced inspections, among
other promising proposals. The
Iranian government proposes a roadmap with
end goals as part of the
initial agreements. The European Union's Foreign
Secretary Lady Ashton
has commented favorably on the initial
meeting.
The US Administration has given conflicting signals following
the
Iranian overtures and the opening meeting. Some individual comments are
guardedly positive; others are less encouraging and rigid.
Administration Zionists like Jack 'Jake' Lew, the Treasury Secretary,
insists sanctions will remain until Iran meets all US (read 'Israeli')
demands. The US Congress, bought and controlled by the ZPC, rejects the
promising Iranian overtures and flexibility, insisting on military
'options' or the total dismantling of Iran's legal and peaceful nuclear
program – ZPC positions designed to sabotage the negotiations. To that
end, Congress has passed new, more extreme, economic sanctions to
strangle the Iran's oil economy.
How Israel's Political Action
Committees Control the US Congress and
Prepare War with Iran
The
Zionist Power Configuration uses its financial firepower to dictate
Congressional policy on the Middle East and to ensure that the US
Congress and Senate do not stray one iota from serving Israel's
interests. The Zionist instrument used in the purchase of elected
officials in the US is the political action committee (PAC).
Thanks
to a 2010 US Supreme Court decision, Super PACs-linked to Israel
spend
enormous sums to elect or destroy candidates – depending on the
candidate's
political work on behalf of Israel. As long as these funds
do not go
directly to the candidate, these Super PACs do not have to
reveal how much
they spend or how it is spent. Conservative estimates of
ZPC- linked direct
and indirect funds to US legislators run close to
$100 million dollars over
the past 30-year. The ZPC channels these funds
to legislative leaders and
members of Congressional committees dealing
with foreign policy, especially
sub-committee chairpersons dealing with
the Middle East. Unsurprisingly, the
largest Congressional recipients of
ZPC money are those who have
aggressively promoted Israel's hard-line
policies. Elsewhere around the
world, such large scale payoffs for
legislative votes would be considered
blatant bribery and subject to
felony prosecution and imprisonment for both
parties. In the US, the
purchase and sale of a politician's vote is called
'lobbying' and is
legal and open. The legislative branch of the US
government has come to
resemble a high-price brothel or white slavers'
auction – but with the
lives of thousands at stake.
The ZPC has
purchased the alliance of US Congress people and Senators on
a massive
scale: Of 435 members of the US House of Representatives
(sic), 219 have
received payments from the ZPC in exchange for their
votes on behalf of the
state of Israel. Corruption is even more rampant
among the 100 US Senators,
94 of whom have accepted pro-Israel PAC and
Super PAC money for their
loyalty to Israel. The ZPC showers money on
both Republicans and Democrats,
thus securing incredible (in this era of
Congressional deadlock), near
unanimous ('bipartisan') votes in favor of
the 'Jewish State', including its
war crimes, like the bombing of Gaza
and Lebanon as well as the annual $3
billion dollar plus US tax-payer
tribute to Tel Aviv. At least 50 US
Senators have each collected between
$100 thousand and $1 million in ZPC
money over the past decades . In
exchange, they have voted for over $100
billion in tribute payments to
Israel … in addition to other 'services and
payments'. The members of
the US Congress are cheaper: 25 legislators have
received between
$238,000 and $50,000, while the rest got peanuts.
Regardless of the
amount, the net result is the same: Congressional member
pick up their
script from their Zionist mentors in the PACs, Super PACs and
AIPAC and
back all of Israel's wars in the Middle East and promote US
aggression
on behalf of Israel.
The most outspoken and influential
legislators get the biggest chunk of
Zionist payola: Senator Mark Kirk
(Bombs over Teheran!) tops the 'pigs
at the trough' list with $925,000 in
ZPC payoffs, followed by John
McCain (Bombs over Damascus!) with $771,000,
while Senators Mitch
McConnell, Carl Levin, Robert Menendez, Richard Durban
and other
Zionophilic politicos are not shy about holding out their little
begging
bowls when the pro-Israel PAC bagmen arrive! Florida Congresswoman
Ileana Ros-Lehtinen tops the 'House' list with $238,000 for her 100%
pro-Israel record as well as for being more war-mongering than even
Netanyahu! Eric Cantor got $209,000 for championing 'wars for Israel'
with American lives while cutting Social Security payments to US seniors
in order to increase military aid to Tel Aviv. House Minority Whip Steny
Hoyer, got $144,000 for 'whipping the few wobbly' Democrats back into
Israel's 'camp'. House Majority Leader John Boehner was paid $130,000 to
do the same among the Republicans.
The ZPC has spent huge amounts to
punish and destroy a dozen or so
dissident legislators who had stood up to
Israel's wars and grotesque
human rights record. The ZPC has poured millions
into individual
campaigns, not only financing opposition candidates who
pledged
allegiance to the Israel but mounting scurrilous character
assassinations of Israel's critics in office. These campaigns have been
mounted in the most obscure parts of the US, including in majority
African-American districts, where local Zionist interests and influence
are otherwise absolutely nil.
There are no comparable PACs, Super
PACs, party leaders, or civic
organization that can contest the power of
Israel's Fifth Column.
According to documents archived by the courageous
researcher, Grant
Smith of IRMEP, when it comes to Israel, the US Justice
Department has
adamantly refused to enforce its own federal laws requiring
the
prosecution of US citizens who fail to register as foreign agents while
working for a foreign country – at least since 1963. On the other hand,
the ZPC, through the so-call 'Anti-Defamation League', has successfully
pressured the Justice Department, the FBI and NSA to investigate and
prosecute law-abiding, patriotic US citizens critical of Israel's land
grabs in Palestine and the Zionist corruptors of the US political system
on behalf of their foreign master.
The corruption and degradation of
US democracy is made possible by the
equally compromised and corrupted
'respectable press'. Media critic,
Steve Lendman, has pointed out the direct
link between Israel and the
mass media in his investigation of the New York
Times. The leading
('fair and balanced') journalists reporting on Israel
have strong family
and political ties to that country and their articles
have been little
more than propaganda. Times reporter Ethan Bronner, whose
son served in
the Israel Defense Forces, is a long-time apologist for the
Zionist
state. Times reporter Isabel Kershner, whose 'writing' seem to come
straight out of the Israeli Foreign Office, is married to Hirsh Goodman
an adviser to the Netanyahu regime on 'security affairs'. The Times
bureau chief in Jerusalem, Jodi Rudoren, lives comfortably in the
ancestral home of a Palestinian family dispossessed from that ancient
city.
The Times unflinching pro-Israel posture provides a political cover
and
justification for the corrupted US politicians as they beat the war
drums for Israel. It is no surprise that the New York Times, like the
Washington Post, is deeply engaged in disparaging and denouncing the
current US-Iran negotiations – and providing ample space for the
one-sided rhetoric of Israeli politicians and their US mouthpieces,
while studiously excluding the more rational, pro-rapprochement voices
of experienced former US diplomats, war-weary military leaders and
representatives of the US business and academic communities.
To
understand Congress' hostility to the nuclear negotiations with Iran
and
their efforts to scuttle them through the imposition of ridiculous
new
sanctions, it is important to get to the source of the problem,
namely the
statements of key Israeli politicians, who set the line of
march for their
US proxies.
In late October, 2013, Former Israeli Defense Intelligence
Chief Amos
Yadlin spoke of 'having to choose between 'the bomb' or the
bombing' – a
message which immediately resonated with the 52 Presidents of
the Major
American Jewish Organizations (Daily Alert, October 24, 2013). On
October 22, 2013, Israel's Intelligence Minister Yuval Steinitz, called
for harsh new sanctions on Iran and insisted that the US use them as
leverage to demand that Iran agree to entirely abandon its peaceful
nuclear energy and enrichment program. Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon
affirmed that 'Israel will not accept any deal that allows Iran to
enrich uranium'. It is Israel's position to threaten war (via the US) if
Iran does not submit to unconditional surrender of its nuclear program.
This defines the position of all the major pro-Israel PACs, Super PACs
and AIPAC. They in turn proceed to dictate policy to their
'lick-spittles' in the US Congress. As a result, Congress passes even
more extreme economic sanctions on Iran in order to sabotage the ongoing
negotiations.
Those who have received the biggest Zionist pay-offs
from the pro-Israel
PACs are the most vociferous: Senator Mark Kirk
($925,379), author of a
previous sanctions bill, demands that Iran end its
entire nuclear and
ballistic missile program (!) and declared that the US
Senate "should
immediately move forward with a new round of economic
sanctions
targeting all remaining Iranian government revenue and reserves"
(Financial Times, 10/18/13, p. 6). The US House of Representatives (sic)
has already passed a bill sharply limiting Iran's ability to sell its
main export, oil. Once again, the Israel- ZPC – Congressional axis seeks
to impose Israel's war agenda on the American people! In late October
2013, Secretary of State Kerry was 'grilled' for 7 hours by Israeli
Prime Minister Netanyahu with the craven Kerry promising to promote
Israel's agenda on dismantling Iran's nuclear enrichment program.
To
counter the campaign to strangle Iran's oil economy, promoted by
Israel's
flunkeys in the Congress, the Iranian government has offered
generous
contracts to the US and EU oil companies (Financial Times
10/29/2013, p 1).
Existing nationalist provisions are being removed.
Under the new terms,
foreign companies book reserves or take equity
stakes in Iranian projects.
Iran hopes to attract at least $100 billion
dollars in investments over the
next three years. This stable country
boasts the world's largest gas and the
fourth largest oil reserves.
Because of the current US (Israel)-imposed
sanctions, production has
fallen from 3.5 million barrels per day in 2011 to
2.58 million barrels
per day in 2013. The question is whether 'Big Oil', the
giant US and EU
companies have to power to challenge the ZPC-stranglehold
over US-EU
sanction policy. So far, the ZPC has dominated this critical
policy and
marginalized 'Big Oil' using threats, blackmail and coercion
against US
policymakers. This has effectively shut out US companies from the
lucrative Iranian market.
Conclusion
As the US and the 5 other
countries attempt to negotiate with Iran, they
face enormous obstacles
overcoming Israel's power over the US Congress.
Over past decades Israel's
agents have bought the loyalties of the vast
majority of Congress people,
training them to recognize and obey the
whistles, signals and script from
the war mongers in Tel Aviv.
This 'Axis of War', has inflicted enormous
damage on the world resulting
in the deaths of millions of victims of US
wars in the Middle East,
Southwest Asia and North Africa. The gross
corruption and widely
recognized bankruptcy of the US legislative system is
due to its slavish
submission to a foreign power. What remains in Washington
is a debased
vassal state despised by its own citizens. If the ZPC
controlled
Congress succeeds once again in destroying the negotiations
between the
US and Iran via new war-like resolutions, we, the American
people, will
have to pay an enormous price in lives and treasure.
The
time to act is now. It is time to stand up and expose the role
played by the
Israeli PACs, Super PACs and the 52 Major American Jewish
Organization in
corrupting Congress and turning "our" elected
representatives into flunkeys
for Israel's wars. There has been a
deafening silence from our noted critics
–few alternative media critics
have attacked Israel's power over the US
Congress. The evidence is
openly available, the crimes are undeniable. The
American people need
real political leaders with the courage to root out the
corrupted and
corruptors and force their elected members in the House and
Senate to
represent the interest of the American people.

Oliver
Stone: Jewish control of the media is preventing free Holocaust
debate
Outspoken Hollywood director says new film aims to put Adolf
Hitler, who
he has called an 'easy scapegoat' in the past, in his due
historical
context.
By Haaretz Service | Jul. 26, 2010
|
Jewish control of the media is preventing an open discussion of the
Holocaust, prominent Hollywood director Oliver Stone told the Sunday
Times, adding that the U.S. Jewish lobby was controlling Washington's
foreign policy for years.
In the Sunday interview, Stone reportedly
said U.S. public opinion was
focused on the Holocaust as a result of the
"Jewish domination of the
media," adding that an upcoming film of him aims
to put Adolf Hitler and
Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin "in
context."
"There's a major lobby in the United States," Stone said,
adding that
"they are hard workers. They stay on top of every comment, the
most
powerful lobby in Washington."
The famed Hollywood director of
such films as "Platoon" and "JFK," also
said that while "Hitler was a
Frankenstein," there was also a "Dr
Frankenstein."
"German
industrialists, the Americans and the British. He had a lot of
support,"
Stone told the Sunday Times, adding that "Hitler did far more
damage to the
Russians than the Jewish people, 25 or 30 [million killed]."
Referring to
the alleged influence of the powerful Jewish lobby on U.S.
foreign policy,
Stone said that Israel had distorted "United States
foreign policy for
years," adding he felt U.S. policy toward Iran was
"horrible."
"Iran
isn't necessarily the good guy," Stone said, insisting that
Americans did
not "know the full story."
Stone's comments to the Sunday times echo
previous remarks by the
Hollywood director, regarding what he perceives as
the distorted view of
figures such as Adolf Hitler and Josef Stalin in U.S.
media.
Earlier this year, Stone, speaking at the at the Television
Critics
Association's semi-annual press tour in Pasadena said that "Hitler
is an
easy scapegoat throughout history and it's been used
cheaply."
"He's the product of a series of actions. It's cause and effect
...
People in America don't know the connection between World War I and
World War II," Stone said, adding that through his documentary work he
has been able to "walk in Stalin's shoes and Hitler's shoes to
understand their point of view."
"We're going to educate our minds
and liberalize them and broaden them.
We want to move beyond opinions ... Go
into the funding of the Nazi
party. How many American corporations were
involved, from GM through
IBM. Hitler is just a man who could have easily
been assassinated,"
Stone said.

The term "Israel
lobby" fails to do justice to the extraordinary scope
and composition of
this special interest group. Below is a small
sampling of the American
organizations that work on behalf of Israel.
Virtually all have
multi-million dollar budgets; a few have endowments
in the hundreds of
million dollars and most of them are funded by
tax-deductible
donations.
by Alison Weir
Alison Weir is the President of the
Council for the National Interest
(CNI) and Executive Director of If
Americans Knew.
President Obama's actions are unlikely to stray outside
the parameters
the Israel lobby is willing to accept. But there is growing
movement
that is challenging the lobby's stronghold on U.S.
politics.
Whenever a US president begins a term of office many people
round the
world are curious about what policies he may pursue on
Israel-Palestine.
They wonder if he will once again call on Israel to reduce
its
settlement activities as almost every president has done at least
once.
Will he condemn Israeli aggression, or only Palestinian rockets?
Will he
push a "peace process" in which virtually all the American mediators
are
Israel partisans[1] or will a few non-Zionists be permitted to play a
role?
As Barack Obama began his second term as president, these questions
came
up again. But these are the wrong questions. Instead, to predict what
he
will do, one only needs to ask what the Israel lobby is likely to
require.
The president won't always do what the lobby demands – on rare
occasions
he may deviate a bit from its dictates– but a large percentage of
the
time he will dutifully do what the lobbyists command.
In other
words, in order accurately to analyse American policies in the
Middle East,
to predict how they will change or not and to develop
effective ways to
revamp them in the directions that are so urgently
needed for humanitarian
relief and real peace, it is essential to
understand the decisive role the
Israel lobby plays in the United States.
Presidents and politicians from
both major parties have long been
extremely aware of this lobby. It may
greatly improve or impede their
chances of winning an election, of passing
legislation, of receiving
positive press coverage, of, quite simply, going
on to bigger and better
things.
Through the years the lobby for
Israel has been a decisive factor in the
defeat of Republicans Paul Findley,
Pete McCloskey (at one time a
Presidential contender) and Charles Percy
(another Presidential
contender) and Democrats Adlai Stevenson, William
Fulbright, Earl
Hilliard, Cynthia McKinney and quite likely many
more.[2]
Politicians from both parties attend the annual convention of
its major
lobbying arm, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC)
and
pledge their loyalty to this foreign country. President Barack Obama,
whose early and major backing came from members of the Israel lobby[3],
gave his first post-nomination speech at the AIPAC convention.
Yet,
despite the lobby's inordinate power, most Americans are only
minimally
aware of it. For decades surveys have shown that the large
majority of
Americans don't wish to take sides on Israel-Palestine, a
reflection of a
public that is uninformed about how much of our tax
money goes to Israel and
how decisively our government is, indeed,
taking a side.
This
widespread lack of awareness about the role of the Israel lobby in
determining American policies is particularly startling given that the
movement on behalf of Israel has been active in the United States for
over 100 years and that it played a significant role in Israel's
creation.[4]
By the 1920s it was able successfully to promote its
policies over those
recommended by the US State Department; by the 1940s it
had added
Pentagon policies to those it could overrule and both presidential
candidates Harry Truman and Thomas Dewey were currying its favour[5]; by
1967 it was able to push its cover story on Israel's lethal attack on
the US naval ship Liberty over opposition by high ranking admirals, the
director of the CIA and the Secretary of State[6]; and by 1977 the head
of AIPAC could state with accuracy: "We have never lost on a major
issue."[7]
Half a century ago the Senate Foreign Relations Committee
investigating
lobbying activities found an illicit cycle in which the Israel
lobby
succeeded in procuring money for Israel, some of this was then
secretly
funneled back into these groups, which then used this money to
lobby for
still more American tax dollars to Israel.
The hearings
concluded that Israel operated "one of the most effective
networks of
foreign influence" in the United States.[8] Yet, since the
media reported on
this so little, most Americans are unaware of these
extremely grave
findings.
The term "Israel lobby" fails to do justice to the
extraordinary scope
and composition of this special interest group. Below
is a small
sampling of the American organisations that work on behalf of
Israel.
Virtually all have multi-million dollar budgets; a few have
endowments
in the hundreds of million dollars and most of them are funded by
tax-deductible donations:
The American Israel Public Affairs
Committee (AIPAC): $100 million
endowment, [9] $60 million annual
revenues.[10]
The American Israel Education Foundation (AIEF): $26 million
annual
revenues.[11]
The Washington Institute for Near East Policy
(WINEP): $23.5 million net
assets. $9.4 million annual
revenues.
Anti-Defamation League (ADL): $115 million net assets,[12] $60
million
annual revenues.[13]
International Fellowship of Christians and
Jews (aka Stand for Israel):
$100 million annual revenues.[14]
The Israel
Project: $11 million annual budget.[15]
Friends of the Israeli Defense Forces
(FIDF): $80 million net
assets,[16] $60 million annual
revenues.[17]
Hadassah (Women's Zionist Organization of America): $400
million net
assets, $100 million annual revenues.
The Jim Joseph
Foundation: $837 million net assets.[20]
The Avi Chai Foundation: $615
million total assets.[21]
Jewish Federations: $3 billion annual
revenues.[22]
Jewish Community Relations Councils, in cities all over U.S.:
Boston
annual revenues $2.5 million; Louisville annual revenues $7-10
million;
Detroit $734,000, New York $4.5 million, etc.[23]
Hillel: Over
$26 million.[24]
JINSA Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs: $3
million annual
revenues.
Center for Security Policy: $4 million annual
revenues.[25]
Foreign Policy Initiative (PNAC 2.0): $1.5 million annual
revenues.[26]
MEMRI Middle East Media Research Institute: $5.2
million.[27]
Birthright: $55 million.[28]
David Project: $4.4
million.[29]
CAMERA Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting in
America: $3.5
million.[30]
In addition to these nonprofit
organisations, there are dozens of
political action committees (PACs) that
donate to political candidates
on the basis of their positions on Israel.
Most of these disguise their
purpose by using such deceptive names as
"Northern Californians for Good
Government," "National Action Committee,"
"American Principles," etc.
While other issue-based PACs almost always
announce their focus
publicly[31], in 2012 only two of the pro-Israel PACs
made any reference
to Israel in their names.[32] While US media frequently
discuss the gun
rights lobby, the largely uncovered pro-Israel PACs gave
almost twice as
much money to candidates – and the donations went to both
parties.[33]
In addition, there are numerous individuals who play an
extremely
important role in the Israel lobbying effort. Two examples are
political
campaign mega-donors Haim Saban and Sheldon Adelson. Saban donated
$12.3
million to the Democratic Party in 2002 alone and has contributed
millions more to pro-Israel organisations.
Adelson, a billionaire
casino magnate, set a new record in political
donations by giving $70
million in the 2012 elections, nearly triple the
previous highest amount. He
also funds such pro-Israel organisations as
Birthright Israel which takes
thousands of young Jewish Americans on
recruiting visits to
Israel.
In other cases, it is individuals with a different kind of power
– the
power to affect which information reaches the American public and
which
does not. One example is Eric Weider, whose Weider History Group
publishes eleven history magazines in the United States, the largest
history magazine publisher in America (and, according to its website,
the world).[34]
Given this reality, President Obama's actions are
unlikely to stray
outside the parameters the Israel lobby is willing to
accept. While the
media are making a great deal over the very mild apology
Israel made to
Turkey for having murdered nine of its citizens, crediting
Obama with
this alleged break-through, none of the news reports seem to
mention
that Israel has largely failed to apologise to the US for the death
of
19-year-old dual American Turkish citizen, Furgan Dogan, who was killed
with five bullets, one to his face at point blank range.[35]
It is
also relevant to note that an AIPAC-drafted letter signed by 76
out of 100
Senators was sent to President Obama on the eve of his visit
to Israel in
March.[36]
Congressional actions can also be expected to remain within
what the
Israel lobby directs, though here, too, there may be rare occasions
where the lobby seems to have lost – such as the confirmation of Chuck
Hagel for Secretary of Defence.
However, the alleged triumph that
some pro-Palestinian writers are
proclaiming for Hagel's appointment is a
bit overblown. Before he was
allowed to take his position, he was made to
grovel humiliatingly before
his Congressional interrogators, retract
acceptable statements he had
made earlier in his life and all but swear
devotion to Israel (like all
top government officials seemingly must
do).
This degrading spectacle surely made it clear to Hagel that he
better
watch his step in the future and made it even clearer to ambitious
Americans of all ages that they must be extremely careful about any
statements they make about Israel and its lobby if they are to achieve
their political ambitions.
Despite the power of the lobby, however,
the situation is not as bleak
as the above may suggest. There is a highly
diverse movement in the US
that opposes this lobby and it is steadily
growing.
The Left, which for decades was largely silent on Israeli abuses
of
human rights, has finally become active on the issue. Similarly, both
traditional conservatives and libertarians frequently oppose aid to
Israel and this opposition is becoming more outspoken. While this stance
is often motivated by fiscal considerations, in many cases it is also
fuelled by outrage at Israeli cruelty and by genuine empathy with
Palestinians.
The money being mobilised on this side is only a small
fraction of the
other and some of the groups within this movement could
arguably be
considered simply a more reasonable and compassionate arm of the
Israel
lobby in that their advocacy is often framed according to what "is
good
for Israel" while failing to address the inherent injustice of an
ethnic
state imposed on a multicultural region.
Nevertheless, there
is no doubt that the opposition to current US
policies is growing
increasingly important. The tide may not yet have
turned but it is certainly
in the slowing phase that must come first.
To use another oft-quoted and
particularly apt metaphor, lobbies thrive
in the dark. More and more people
in the US and elsewhere are shining
light on this one, steadily reducing its
power.
While there are numerous deeply significant issues, an increasing
number
of individuals are deciding to focus on this one, the core issue of
the
Middle East and the cause of war after war, including the current "war
on terror" and demonisation of Muslims.
To use the framing posed by
journalist Glenn Greenwald, an expanding
number of people are refusing to
prioritise domestic issues over the
killing of Arab and Muslim children on
the other side of the world.
Therefore, despite the enormous power of the
Israel lobby in the US,
this growing movement is quite likely to overcome
the obstacles
confronting it and to join history's other successful
movements against
oppression.
The main question is how long this will
take, and how many more
massacres, and possibly wars, will occur in the
interim.

Cameron's
'Torah' government
STUART LITTLEWOOD JUNE 29, 2013 20
The
unbearable shame
by Stuart Littlewood
Ten years ago Tam Dalyell,
the 'Father of the House' (i.e. the most
senior member of the House of
Commons in the British Parliament),
sparked a huge row by accusing the then
Prime Minister, Tony Blair, of
"being unduly influenced by a cabal of Jewish
advisers" .
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Dalyell named Lord Levy
(Blair's
personal envoy on the Middle East), Peter Mandelson (whose father
was
Jewish), and Jack Straw, the Foreign Secretary (who has Jewish
ancestry), as three of the leading figures who had influenced Blair's
policies on the Middle East. He told The Telegraph: "If it is a question
of launching an assault on Syria or Iran…. then one has to be candid."
Blair, he said, was also indirectly influenced by Jewish people in the
Bush administration, including Richard Perle, a Pentagon adviser, Paul
Wolfowitz, the deputy defence secretary, and Ari Fleischer, the
President's press secretary.
Dalyell's remarks were sad and
unfounded, said Lord Janner, chairman of
the Holocaust Education Trust.
"Tony Blair is his own man. He will
follow advice if he considers it correct
and not otherwise. He has been
a good friend of the Jewish people and the
Jewish state."
Dalyell was misguided, said Rabbi Dr Jonathan Romain, a
spokesman for
Britain's Reform Synagogues. "Concerning Iraq it was crystal
clear that
Tony Blair was not swayed by popularity or anyone else but by his
own
deep convictions. It is also obvious that the majority of President
Bush's circle are Christian Evangelicals rather than Jews."
Ned
Temko, the American-born editor of the Jewish Chronicle, said: "I
just think
these sort of comments are offensive and are a profound
misunderstanding of
the way foreign policy is made in the United States
or here."
Dalyell
also told The Scotsman on Sunday
<http://www.scotsman.com/news/politics/top-stories/dalyell-zionist-cabal-runs-policy-on-israel-1-1385178>:
"Blair and Straw have become far too close to these people and Lord
Levy, who is an unaccountable ambassador in the Middle East, is part of
this group. They are acting on an extremely Zionist, Likud-nik agenda.
In particular I am concerned that some of them are pushing for an attack
on Syria, for reasons of Israeli security. "
MP Louise Ellman, a
member of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee Against
Anti-Semitism, said:
"This absurd proposition implies a Jewish plot in
high
places…"
Former Foreign Secretary Sir Malcolm Rifkind, a senior member of
Scotland's Jewish community, was rudely dismissive: "We all know that
Tam gets bees in his bonnet and eight times out of 10 they are nuts but
the other two are brilliant. This is, I'm afraid, one of the nutty
ones."
Next day the Guardian reported that Dalyell could face an
investigation
for inciting racial hatred
<http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2003/may/05/iraq.politics>.
Eric Moonman,
president of the Zionist Federation, was seeking advice on
whether there
was a case for referral. "I believe there is," he
said.
Today it is obvious that old Tam was neither nutty nor misguided.
He
joined the dots and saw the danger, as did many others.
"So many
Jews that the Tory party should be known as the Torah party"
Meanwhile
the Jewish cabal flourishes. A week ago Ian Livingston was
handpicked by
prime minister David Cameron for the trade minister job.
Cameron, who had
previously broken with traditional wisdom and appointed
the first Jewish
ambassador to Israel, was reported by an ecstatic Times
of Israel as having
now decided to bring into the government possibly
its most committed Jew
yet, and certainly its most outspoken supporter
of Israel, which Livingston
called "the most amazing state in the world."
Livingston is not elected.
He's appointed… and created a Lord to make it
look kosher.
The
newspaper went on to name other top Jewish figures in the
Conservative party
such as co-chairs Lord Feldman and Grant Shapps MP,
senior treasurer Howard
Leigh, a member of the Jewish Leadership
Council; and former party
treasurers Richard Harrington MP and Lord
Fink, another member of the
JLC.
"There are so many Jews at the top of Britain's Conservative party,
Prime Minister David Cameron once quipped, that it should be known as
the Torah party rather than the Tory party," crowed the paper.
And to
make the Prime Minister feel thoroughly at home in his Torah
party a Jewish
scholar, after tracing Cameron's ancestry, claimed he
could be "a direct
descendant of Moses or, at least, a cousin".
In case our American friends
are puzzled by this Torah/Tory business,
'Tory' is an old 17th century name
for the modern Conservative party
founded in the 1830s.
While nobody
is suggesting, I hope, that Jews have no place in our
law-making, it is not
unreasonable to wish the number to reflect their
presence in the population.
Three years ago The Jewish Chronicle
published a list of Jewish MPs in
Britain's parliament, naming 24. The
Jewish population in the UK at that
time was – and probably still is –
around 280,000 or just under 0.5%. There
are 650 seats in the House of
Commons so, on a proportional basis, Jews
could expect 3 seats. But with
24 they were 8 times over-represented. Which
meant, of course, that
other groups were under-represented.
The UK's
Muslim population is about 2.4 million or nearly 4%. Similarly,
their quota
would be 25 seats but they had only 8 – a serious shortfall.
If Muslims were
over-represented to the same extent as Jews (i.e. 8
times) they'd have 200
seats. Imagine the hullabaloo.
Israeli flag-waving a stepping-stone to
high office
Over-representation in the House of Commons is only part of
the picture.
Many more Jews have been inserted into the House of Lords and
other
non-elected and unaccountable positions. An even bigger worry is the
huge number of non-Jewish Zionists that have infiltrated every level of
political and institutional life. They swell the pro-Israel lobby to
such an extent that it is believed to account for 80% of the
Parliamentary Conservative Party, which now rules with the Liberal
Democrats as their junior coalition partner.
Too many pro-Israel MPs
speak and act as if they'd rather wave the
Israeli flag than the Union Jack.
These 'Israel-firsters' never condemn
the regime's illegal occupation,
apartheid-style policies, war crimes
and refusal to sign up to nuclear
non-proliferation, inspection and
safeguards. They lock Britain (and British
foreign policy) into Israel's
sickening ambitions and immorality. Defending
the indefensible, as they
do, inevitably raises questions for our national
security, a deadly
serious issue given the sheer number of Zionists now in
British public
life and the enemies they have made across the world, and
continually
provoke.
The Jewish Chronicle, in its 2006 special report
'Team Cameron's big
Jewish backers', revealed the support that enabled
Cameron to suddenly
burst into the political limelight, almost unknown, to
take the
Conservative leadership. With no significant achievement under his
belt
he was then able to manoeuvre, with the help of his backers, into
Britain's PM slot.
He is also a self-declared Zionist and voted for
the war in Iraq, so how
trustworthy does that make him? In a speech to
Jewish fundraisers in
London last year he declared: "There is no
contradiction between being a
proud Jew, a committed Zionist and a loyal
British citizen." How can
someone who so closely aligns himself with a
belligerent foreign
military power like Israel hope to convince us that he's
100 percent
loyal to Britain and her interests, while once again drawing us
unwillingly into conflict with Israel's enemies, this time Iran and
Syria, with whom we have no quarrel?
Cameron's Foreign Secretary,
William Hague, has been a member of
Conservative Friends of Israel since he
was 15. Hague once said: "The
unbroken thread of Conservative Party support
for Israel that has run
for nearly a century from the Balfour Declaration to
the present day
will continue."
Alistair Burt, a former officer of
the Parliamentary group of
Conservative Friends of Israel, is Foreign Office
minister for the
Middle East. And David Lidington, who has spoken of being a
"staunch
defender" of the State of Israel, is Foreign Office minister for
Europe.
So the key stooges are safely installed and
activated.
Powerless to deliver justice
It is said that becoming a
Friend of Israel is a necessary
stepping-stone to high office. Consequently
fans of Israel are embedded
at all levels in the fabric of British political
life and at the heart
of the Government.
When a group of concerned
academics wrote to the Committee on Standards
in Public Life complaining
about Israel's "deep penetration", they were
told it was not something the
committee could investigate. A closer look
revealed that some members of the
committee had close links with Friends
of Israel.
How do these
Israeli flag wavers think it looks, standing shoulder to
shoulder with
religious fanatics and psychopaths who horribly persecute
the Christian and
Muslim communities of the Holy Land? It is especially
offensive to see them
endorsing a pseudo democracy that dishes out
thuggish treatment even to
children who, says the UN, are arrested by
Israeli military and police and
systematically subjected to degrading
treatment, and often tortured. Read
the report and weep

Thanks
to its misplaced admiration for Israel, the British government
fails to
intervene and stand up for justice. The disgrace is unbearable.
Here is just
one of many appalling examples. Right now Christians in
that once beautiful
country are under imminent threat of losing their
land, their livelihood,
and their way of life because an emergency law
cooked up by the illegal
occupier Israel, and upheld by an Israeli
court, allows the Israelis to
seize territory in the Cremisan Valley
near Bethlehem. This brazen land-grab
opens the way for the hated
separation wall (ruled illegal by the
International Court of Justice) to
be extended across the valley, connecting
two Israeli settlements built
on stolen Palestinian land in the eastern
suburbs of Jerusalem.
The onward construction of the barrier will divide
a Salesian Catholic
monastery from the neighbouring Salesian Catholic
convent, confiscate
most of the convent's property, and cut off 58
Palestinian families from
their agricultural lands – including vineyards,
olive groves, and
pastures. The barrier will also separate families and
surround an
elementary school on three sides, forcing young children to pass
through
a checkpoint to go to class.
The ICJ (International Criminal
Justice) required the wall to be
dismantled, not extended. And it reminded
all States party to the Fourth
Geneva Convention that they are under an
obligation "to ensure
compliance by Israel with international humanitarian
law as embodied in
that Convention". That was 9 years ago. The world is
still waiting. The
States never act. Compliance never happens.
Non-compliance is rife, and
highly profitable to Israel.
And Israel's
allies, including Britain, perversely reward its
non-compliance. Across the
West Bank, continuing restrictions on
Palestinian access to agricultural
lands have led to the slow
abandonment and eventual confiscation of those
lands by Israeli authorities.
As I write, Israel's Knesset have approved
the first reading of the
Prawer Plan to remove 40,000 indigenous Bedouin
people from their
ancestral homeland in the Negev. This evil scheme clears
the way for the
$4 billion "Blueprint Negev" project intended to transform
the Negev
into a majority-Jewish area even though the Bedouin have lived
there for
thousands of years.
At the same time one of Israel's most
dangerous lunatics, Avigdor
Lieberman (chairman of the foreign affairs and
defence committee), is
calling for Israel, after imposing a vicious 7-year
blockade, to conquer
the Gaza Strip and carry out "a thorough cleansing",
just because Hamas
still hasn't succumbed to Israel's illegal occupation of
the Palestinian
homeland.
Britain could, at a stroke, bring Israel to
heel and force the regime to
conform to international law or face massive
trade penalties. But the
prancing posers who pass for our leaders have sold
out.
Cameron's 'Torah' party rules!
