Powerpoint presentation - Tomb of Nefertari
Newsletter published on November 26, 2018
During my trip to meet activists in Europe and the United
States in October, I spent four days in Egypt, and managed to see the main
sights of Luxor, Giza and Cairo.
The highlight was a visit to the tomb of Queen Nefertari.
This has been called the 'Sistine Chapel' of Ancient Egypt - its greatest
artistic monument, and a wonderful insight into this ancient religion and
civilization.
Nefertari was one of the wives of Pharaoh Ramesses II. But
unlike the others, she was Queen, and wore the cobra on her forehead. Her name
means “the most beautiful.” She was highly educated, and could read and write
hieroglyphics.
She died about 1256 BC. She was buried in tomb QV66 in the
Valley of the Queens, on the west bank of the Nile at Luxor (Thebes).
Please view my Powerpoint presentation on her tomb. If you
have Office, you have Powerpoint. Even if you do not have Powerpoint, you may
have (unbeknown to you) some other software which will run it. Just download and
double-click. The file is 10.5 MB.
When Powerpoint opens, go to the View menu and select "slide
show". Use the Left and Right keys to step through the slides.
